At our yard in Rotterdam, we have all sizes of stud-link chain cables available. Stud-link chains are standard cables, supplied in lengths of 27.5 metres. We can deliver them as they are, with an environmentally friendly coating, or — up to 48mm — with a hot-dip galvanized finish.

Reading The Spec

What the numbers mean

Four figures matter when you’re specifying this chain: grade, proof load, breaking load, and mass per metre. Here’s what each one tells you.

Grade 2 vs. Grade 3

Grade 3 steel carries a higher proof load and breaking load than Grade 2 at the same diameter — it lets you specify a smaller, lighter chain for the same working load, at a higher unit cost.

Proof load

The load each length is tested to during manufacture without permanent deformation. It’s a quality check, not the load the chain is rated to carry in service.

Breaking load

The load at which the chain is expected to fail. Working loads are specified well below this figure, with a safety factor set by the classification society or application.

Mass per metre (kg/m)

Used to calculate the total weight of a length before it’s ordered — relevant for windlass capacity, deck loading, and freight costs alike.

What sizes do stud-link chain cables come in?

12.5mm to 162mm nominal diameter, all held in stock at our Rotterdam yard, supplied in standard 27.5m lengths.

What's the difference between Grade 2 and Grade 3?

Grade 3 carries a higher proof load and breaking load than Grade 2 at the same diameter, letting you use a smaller, lighter chain for the same working load.

Can stud-link chain cables be hot-dip galvanized?

Yes, up to 48mm. Above that diameter, or as an alternative, we supply an environmentally friendly coating instead.

What length do stud-link chain cables come in?
