Description
Fluke Anchor (Danforth Style) | High Holding Power Marine Anchor | Carbon
The Fluke Anchor Danforth Style is widely used by boaters due to its excellent holding power relative to weight, especially in mud, sand, and gravel seabeds. Its tapered shank and chamfered edges allow deep penetration, ensuring a secure hold in soft conditions while remaining easy to store on a bow roller or in a locker.
This anchor design is also suitable as a secondary or stern option, offering flexibility for different anchoring setups.
Refer to the specifications and diagram to select the correct size for your vessel. These recommendations are based on average boat weight and normal anchoring conditions. For heavier boats or more demanding environments such as strong currents or winds, choosing a larger size is recommended.

Specifications

Why It Holds
Built To Fold,
Not To Fail
Folds Flat
Stock and flukes fold to the shank. A metre of dead steel on deck becomes a flat plate for the locker or the rack.
Pinned & Tethered
A galvanised plate locks the stock open; a galvanised pin locks the flukes. Both are chained to the shank — nothing drops over the side.
Galvanised To ISO 1461
Hot-dip galvanised after fabrication. Zinc keeps protecting the steel long after paint on a lesser anchor has gone.
